Meghan Jones' Journey to Recovery with Dr. Joseph

In July 2023, Meghan Jones, a professional violinist and holistic health coach, faced an unexpected challenge. While hiking in Breckenridge, Meghan took a sudden fall, landing awkwardly on her left wrist. Initially, she thought she was fine, but as a strange sensation and dizziness set in, concern grew. "I moved my wrist and said I was fine," Meghan recalls. "But then, I got this weird feeling and started getting dizzy."

She needed immediate and expert care. Within an hour of her fall, Meghan was in a clinical exam room at Vail-Summit Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery (VSON), where Dr. Max Seiter first examined her. Being told her wrist was broken, Meghan instantly understood the profound impact this injury could have on her career as a professional violinist. "I play the violin, and I need to get back to it," she thought, realizing the importance of every bit of dexterity in her left hand.

Understanding the critical nature of her injury and her profession, Dr. Seiter quickly recommended she see Dr. Terrell Joseph, an upper extremity specialist at VSON. Dr. Joseph immediately became a reassuring presence in Meghan's recovery journey. He carefully explained every treatment option, ensuring she fully understood the plan. Recognizing the urgency of her situation, Dr. Joseph and his team worked diligently to get her into surgery that same day. "If your insurance clears this, we have time to operate on you at 2 PM today," Dr. Joseph informed her.

Meghan was highly impressed by the speed and efficiency of her care. The surgery was a success, with a plate and nine screws placed in her wrist to stabilize the fracture. Thanks to Dr. Joseph's expert surgical skills and Meghan's dedicated physical therapy routine, she resumed playing the violin for every service and orchestra event just two months after surgery, demonstrating a full recovery despite the severity of her injury.

Meghan's overall experience with Dr. Joseph and the team at VSON was exceptional. "Everyone, from the front desk to the PA to Dr. Joseph himself, made me feel safe and cared for," Meghan recalls. She particularly appreciated Dr. Joseph's personal attention, even remembering small details during her follow-up visits, such as the fact that she hadn't eaten breakfast on the morning of her injury, which allowed them to perform the surgery that same day.

Meghan's journey from injury to recovery is a testament to the outstanding care provided by Dr. Joseph and his team. Their dedication enabled Meghan to return to the music and clients she loves, fully equipped with the dexterity and strength she needs to continue her career.
